Dancers crave the magic of the Great White Way–the thrill of live theater, the lights, the sounds and sequins. But what goes on behind the scenes? This month DRN heads backstage to speak with four Broadway dancers who reveal their rehearsal must-haves and the tools they use to keep their bodies ready to perform eight shows a week.

I spoke to guitarist Michael Aarons about his heavy metal past, his connection to Liza Minnelli, and his involvement with some of the biggest Broadway hits in recent years.

After a highly successful run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the new musical American Idiot opened last week on Broadway. The show, based on Green Day’s award winning album of the same name, also features music from the group’s most recent record 21st Century Breakdown, along with b-sides and other unreleased material.
